January 9: Where I Stand

I spend a lot of time standing in my home.

January 8: Blue

This little blue broom is one of H’s favorite toys.

January 7: In Between

H is between the ground and his goal in this picture, and as a toddler, he’s between babyhood and boyhood.

January 6: Outdoors

January 5: With a Fork

One of the boys’ Christmas presents getting put to good use

January 4: A Little Bit

This prompt was supposed to be a self-portrait, so this is what I came up with.

January 2: Goals

I met a goal by playing with the apature settings on my camera to try to control depth of field.

January 1: Celebrate

Every year, we celebrate the New Year by taking a family photo.

December 2013

December was full of the things you would expect it to be full of, at least here in Hawaii.  We spent time with friends and family, including a visit from R’s parents.  We set up the Christmas decorations, ate Christmas food, and did Christmasy sorts of things–including a ride in a one-horse open carriage!  We gave and recieved lots of presents!  It was a full month, but lots of fun.

I ended the year with an imperfect project 365, but I got back on track near the end.  I’ve made it several months now without missing a day.  I took a couple of nice photos and a lot of bad snapshots, but when I view them all together in a slideshow, they make me smile.  They do a great job of capturing what this year was like for me: chaotic, mundane, and full of happy moments.  I’ve also learned a little more about what makes a good photo and why I often take bad ones.  I have a lot more to learn about photography, and though my pace of learning it is glacially slow, I’m going to keep working on it because I have fun trying to be a little creative every day.
