Happy Birthday!
H turned 2 and had a “fire truck birthday”. (In case you are wondering, fire trucks on Oahu are yellow, not red.) He had a great time and was thrilled with the numerous gifts he received from relatives.

A dragon
S’s talent for art is growing all of the time. Here is a dragon he drew recently.
At story time
The electric company notified us that we would be losing power on Thursday for some maintenance work on our street. With the prospect of no fans, I cancelled our home-based preschool and instead met the other moms at the library for story time. S was captivated by the stories of birds, H was not.
Climbing practice
This was taken at the playground before swim lessons.
Beach day
Although we live in Hawaii, I rarely go to the beach. However, on this particular day, I promised S a beach trip as a reward and had to follow through.
Bedtime reflection
This is a picture of H that I shot as we were preparing for bed.
Garden bounty
We experimented with square foot gardening this year. Our greatest success (not saying much) has been cherry tomatoes. We rarely get to eat any at meals though, because the boys pull them off the vine and eat them (in S’s case) or bite them without eating them (in H’s case).
H playing in the sand at the beach.
H is hard to get pictures of because he is in almost constant motion. I’d love to show more pictures of his beautiful brown eyes, but we take what we can get.
H’s birthday won’t come for a few more weeks, but presents are already arriving. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Smith!

H smiling for the camera
I promised the boys some pool time if they behaved during my appointment with the doctor. H is very happy that I’m following through.
