August 14

Volcano!

I spent August 14-16 on the Big Island, mainly in Volcanoes National Park, and what is a visit to Volcanoes without a shot of a volcano?

August 12

S asleep on the couch

So that the boys don’t keep each other up at bedtime, we often let S fall asleep on the couch and then carry him back to bed.

August 10

The supermoon

R suggested that I take a photo of the August 10th “Super Moon”, so I did. If you show H this picture, he says “sun”.

August 8

Storm preparations

Iselle wasn’t expected to hit Oahu at full force and forcasters were still unsure what Julio would do, so we took some precautions in case small flying debris broke our windows and shattered the glass. Of course, if a hurricane came our direction at full force, we’d have to evacuate.

August 7

H and his teacher at swim lessons.

On August 7th, our island home was bracing for the possible arrival of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Iselle. However, since the storm hadn’t yet arrived, swim lessons continued as scheduled. Understandably, many families stayed home and both boys enjoyed private lessons (H’s lessons are always private).

August 6

S running through “The Danger Room”.

We have a park across the street from our home. Whenever we come to the big field in the park, S asks, “What is ‘The Danger Room’ today?” Usually, he supplies his own answer before you can respond and then assigns superhero roles to all participants. S is usually Robot Kadobot, his own creation. He then takes off through whatever imagined perils are present in the field that day.

August 5

Familiar faces in a photo at the library.

Another library visit! I noticed the library is showcasing this photo of our very own R and S. R won the prize drawing for the adult participants in the library’s summer reading program. Being the wonderful husband that he is, he gave the prize (the water bottle) to me.
